Step 2 – Building Your
Inventory/Stock List
|
|
Step 2.1: Building Your Inventory – On Budget
(For more
Profit!! ….Highly
recommended Option 3)
Use garage sales to find new inventory.
Once you have
sold off all
your own junk
and are forced
to look for
new sources, don’t overlook the neighborhood garage sales.
Make sure that
you study the
yard/moving/garage/estate
sales section
in your local
paper the
evening prior
to your
excursion and
plan your
route so that
stops are
close to each
other.
Visit wealthy neighborhoods
first to
obtain items
with the
highest resale
value. Next,
visit older,
well-established
neighborhoods
to search for
collectibles.
Arrive at the
sales 30 to 45
minutes before
the advertised
start time if
at all
possible, so
that you can
at least scope
out the
inventory, if
not get a jump
on the buying
frenzy. Bring
small bills
and loose
change as
sellers are
often not well
prepared to
provide
change. Always
be willing to
bargain and
don’t forget
to rummage
through the
free box.
Do not sell
what everyone
else is
selling or
something that
you know and
love, unless
there is a
demand for it.
Where can you
get ideas of
things that
will sell
successfully
on eBay? Look in the lifestyle and business sections of newspapers to get into the minds of consumers and look at major stores’ advertisements.
Look at
magazines to
see what niche
markets are
available and
what people
interested in
these specific
areas are
buying. Talk
to salespeople
in malls and
other store to
find out what
is popular
right now.
There are even
trend-spotting
websites that
can show you
what the
newest “it”
items will be (www.trendwatching.com)
Always keep
your eyes on
the television
and movie
industry as
new television
and movie hits
always drive
sales of their
corresponding
merchandise.

Step
3 – Pricing and Profit |
|
Basic Formula to Cover Your Overheads
Actual Cost = Item Cost (NZ$) + Shipping Cost (NZ$) + GST + Duty/Tax + Trademe / eBay sev Charge + Other (add avg 10%)
Selling Price = Actual Cost + Profit Margin (for E.g.: Actual Cost x 20%)
To Figure out the Profit Margin, find a similar Item on Trademe or eBay and Try to Beat it at least by 10% or Give some thing for Free.
For an Example:
Your Import 1
If you decide to buy 100 Pocket Knives for (Actual Cost) Nz$ 100, each will be only Nz $1
Your Import 2
If you decide to buy 5 Cell Phones for (Actual Cost) Nz$ 500, each will be only Nz $100
If another Trademe or eBay Seller selling this same Cell Phone for Nz$ 120
You Can Sell this for the Same Price Nz $120 and include a Free Pocket Knife.
Your Actual Cost will be Nz$ 101/=
Your Profit is Nz $ 19/= each and the most impotently, you have that customers email/details for future products and offers.
Note: you always can send an email with a PayPal link to them with new products and offers
As I discussed earlier, Customer Service is Very Important for Selling Online,
If they happy what they buy from you, 80% of the change they will recommend you to there friends or buy more products form you.
By this time, you should have the following details,
- Trademe Account Details (User name and Password)
- eBay Account Details (User name and Password)
- PayPal Account Details (User name and Password)
- Waiting for Supplier Quotes or you might waiting for products
In the meantime you can continue with Step 2.1
(Building Your Inventory – On Budget)
• Looking for more products and uploading them to your business site
Note:
Most of the Ad’s on this page will change every day.. and you might find
something you like or a way to improve your business
Most of the items on my wholesale list comes with the actual price on there
websites, therefore you can decide immediately and save/get/create some
photos/descriptions and keep them ready, so that as soon as you get the
products you can upload them on to your Trademe and eBay at the same time.
As soon as you get the products, …..Upload them to your site ASAP and in no
time you will enjoy the Profit !!!
Make sure at least 50% of the profit …must
be used to develop you business!!!
The Next Step is very important to get your customers back.
Step 4 – Setting
Up Your Personal Webpage
On Trademe or eBay sites,
- There are word limits (max 2000 letters)
- Have to pay extra for additional photos
- On avg only 7 days an auction
- Other limitations
On Your Personal Web Site,
- No word limits
- No Photo limits
- No limitations at all !!!
And also, you always can put your web page address on Trademe / eBay product description field.
